3. The Loire Valley in France and its vineyards are as inviting in autumn as in summer. As the colour palette changes in autumn, the valley with its fresh air becomes a great place to go for long hikes. As you travel through the Loire Valley, you will come across one or more of the 22 castles. Most of these were built in the 15th and 16th century, so be prepared for some magnificient renaissance architecture. One of these is the Villandry castle and gardens, which changes colour in a spectacular way with autumn.
